ALILA SPACE LAUNCHED IN GREENSTONE MALL

Alila Professional Makeup hosted it’s public store launch at House of An Image Emporium (owned by my cousin herself Nerike Botes) in Greenstone Shopping Centre, Johannesburg, earlier this month on the 4​th & 5​th of February.

The launch of this exquisite space kicked off in the morning, offering makeup lovers two full days of pampering , discounts and fabulous spoils and prizes . ​The ladies that attended the launch got to enjoy product discounts of 30% as well as free brow services, waxes or tints with their purchases ­ needless to say, the store was abuzz with excitements and shrills of joy!

Alila also ran an in store competition where customers that entered won themselves a Fake Bake spray tan, a set of Alila lashes, an Alila makeup kit valued at R3000, one of 5 x R100 coffee vouchers for House of An ­ Image Emporium and a free makeover.

Alila linked up with Uber to offer discounted rides of R200 to all those that attended, as well as an exciting competition where one lucky winner won themselves two tickets to attend the VIP launch, a host of Alila products as well as a free Uber ride to the event.

The exclusive media and VIP launch took place on the evening of the 4th, where local media and celebs were invited to​e​xperience the daringly in­your­face brand in a unique, fun setting.

Guests were submerged into a world of colour, candy, pamper stations and spoils. In addition to this, Alila threw Pravda Vodka into the mix to add a little extra kick to this dazzling event. The Pravda Vodka team conceptualised two delicious signature cocktails that were created especially for guests to enjoy at this launch. 

The launch was a wonderful success that saw guests leaving with a glow, and makeup bags that were a little heavier.

HowTo: Contour & Highlight (Make-Up)

While it used to be a make-up secret of celebrity makeup artists to make cheekbones pop and skin glow, the trick to highlighting and contouring  are now common knowledge.

If you were blessed with naturally chiseled cheekbones and a structured jaw line, then lucky you.  
But for those of who need a little sculpting in that department, let this step-by-step map be your guide to a flawless look.

The first step to creating a sculpted face, is knowing where to contour.  It's the one thing you can add to your daily routine that  will make a huge difference.

1. Use a foundation 2 shades lighter than your skin tone to highlight. For contouring use a low or non-shimmer bronzer.  Set with powder

2. HIGHLIGHTING

• Highlight the bridge of your nose to lighten the  face, avoid the tip.
• Between the brows where a furrow may appear.
• Then under the eyebrow arch to lift the brow and brighten the eyes.
• On the high point of the cheekbones to define the cheek.
• Highlight creases that create shadows such as in the nasal fold area.

3. CONTOURING

• Contour on each side of the nose to make it look more slim and defined.
• On the tip of the nose in a V shape to shorten the length.
• Under the jaw line to add definition and slim the face.
• Around the hairline to warm the face and shorten the forehead.
• Then one inch above the temple to add depth to the face.
• Contour the underside of the cheekbone to strengthen your bone structure.

Highlighting and Contouring your face correctly enhances your natural bone structure, giving you a defined yet 
natural finish that's  ideal for any outing.

What concealer does:

Concealer is used to cover up imperfections on the surface of the skin. It is matched to your skin tone, and then used to hide breakouts, scars, redness and dark circles. As it contains more pigment than foundation does, it offers better coverage, thereby helping you get closer to a flawless complexion.

What to conceal:

Redness around your nose area, pigmentation or dark spots, dark circles under your eyes, scars, pimples and breakouts.

Different types of concealers & how to apply them:

Concealers are available in three forms: solid, liquid and powder.

Powder concealer - offers the least amount of coverage, and can be used for dark under-eye circles and light blemishes. It is best applied with a brush in gently, circular movements. Though it is effective on light imperfections, it is probably the least common of the three types.

Liquid concealer - offers more coverage than powder and blends easily with a thin concealer brush or with your fingers. It can be used on acne, but is best suited to dark under-eye circles. It’s best to select a liquid concealer one or two shades lighter than your complexion, & to apply it around the area with a brush. Gently bled it into the skin with your finger, but be careful not to rub or tug at the skin.

Solid concealers - offer the most coverage, but cannot be blended into the skin. They normally come in a lipstick-like or pencil-like form. They are most suitable for covering pimples and scars and should not be used as an under-eye concealer (the rubbing of the pencil can damage the delicate area around the eyes).

If you’re looking to highlight and ligten an area on your skin and don’t need the full coverage of a foundation, opt for a highlighting pen instead. 

These usually give the skin a luminous glow and don’t offer much coverage.
