Designer: KVD Pops Up at YSWARA

Written by Londiwe Mbhele (iFashion)
Kat van Duinen has found a temporary space in Johannesburg at the prestige Yswara boutique.

The designer was stirred into anticipation after receiving an invite from
Yswara to pop-up in the boutique for a full month, having her pack-up a good few merchandise from her Cape Town store at The Old Biscuit Mill.

"The opportunity to work with like-minded fellow companies with a luxury portfolio such as YSWARA is one we truly treasure, so it was a no-brainer," says designer Kat van Duinen. What also appealed was that she would access and engage with the Joburg market through the Yswara boutique – known for creating fine tea, scented candles and hosting high-end African design products. The pop-up shop which will introduce Joburgers to a few classic bags and clutches made from exotic skins in various colours, women's clothing and signature accessories, is open until July 7.

"There are also plenty of pieces that are new to the Kat van Duinen collection, which means our Joburg clients will be able to access unique Kat van Duinen pieces available for the first time in South Africa."

It’s been less than a week since the brand has set up shop in the prime boutique nestled in Parkhurst and a dedicated space for KVD is starting to grow on the designer, having her shift from her initial thoughts of placing products in various stores.
"There is a strong market for luxury products in Joburg – our Joburg clientele have a keen eye for beautiful clothing, accessories and art, and they really understand and appreciate the value of locally manufactured goods in support of our local economy. It's wonderful to be able to link up with existing Kat van Duinen clients in Joburg, as well as to meet new ones, and it is a wonderfully vibrant, rich city."

Luxury Fashion House D’ORÉ in Sandton Celebration

In line with the world’s most renowned multi-brand department stores, D’ORÉ brings a whole new luxury shopping experience to South Africa.

The D’ORÉ fashion house, who is already known for being the home to some of the world’s amazing and top luxury fashion brands such as Emilio Pucci, Escada, Cavalli, Armani Collezione, Rupert Sanderson, Elie Tahari, Vanessa G London amongst others, is now officially launching its new Loyalty Program called D’ORÉ PRIVÉ, in celebration of their 1st birthday this month.

‘Loyalty’ is very important to D’ORÉ and its staff, so the great news is that each time D’ORÉ customers spend in-store or even the online site, points will be earned. Which I think is pretty much what all us ladies want!

D’ORÉ hopes to afford its loyal customers only the best of best in personalized service with exclusive value-added services which will add to its already service-focused store environment.

Vanessa Gouden herself had some great things to say when I interviewed her at this fabulous Birthday Celebration that was held at the  D’ORÉ store in Sandton City last night.

K: What matters to you most as a fashion designer, when deciding where to display your garments?

V: I think its about having to utilize your space in such a way that it gives the floor to express the garment as to appose to downing it with all other forms. Simplicity is important to me, and location is perfect in terms of the kind of ambiance you want to create and story you actually want to tell. So for me these are the fundamental points in the way I display it.

K: And what is it about the brands that the store houses which stands out and makes it fitting for the D’ORÉ store?

V: It’s a number of things, its about the uniqueness and sense of individuality. I don’t buy to many of the same kind, so women feel very comfortable to be able to purchase a garment and feel that they are the only ones that are wearing it, so it’s niche produced. What I also think is important to me in terms of the clothing and the selection , is about giving each woman  a chance to express themselves through a variety  of brands that allows her to do that, still be in trend, and still be in step of the fashion segments of the season.

It is D’ORÉ vision to constantly delight and inspire their clients, whether it is through adding new and exciting brands, or new seasonal collections.

With D’Ore, you always ‘say more’…
