Kat van Duinen has found a temporary space in Johannesburg at the prestige Yswara boutique.
The designer was stirred into anticipation after receiving an invite
from
Yswara to pop-up in the boutique for a full month, having her
pack-up a good few merchandise from her Cape Town store at The Old
Biscuit Mill.
"The opportunity to work with like-minded fellow companies with a
luxury portfolio such as YSWARA is one we truly treasure, so it was a
no-brainer," says designer Kat van Duinen.
What also appealed was that she would access and engage with the Joburg
market through the Yswara boutique – known for creating fine tea,
scented candles and hosting high-end African design products. The pop-up shop which will introduce Joburgers to a few classic bags
and clutches made from exotic skins in various colours, women's clothing
and signature accessories, is open until July 7.
"There are also plenty of pieces that are new to the Kat van Duinen collection, which means our Joburg clients will be able to access unique Kat van Duinen pieces available for the first time in South Africa."
It’s been less than a week since the brand has set up shop in the prime boutique nestled in Parkhurst and a dedicated space for KVD is starting to grow on the designer, having her shift from her initial thoughts of placing products in various stores. "There is a strong market for luxury products in Joburg – our Joburg clientele have a keen eye for beautiful clothing, accessories and art, and they really understand and appreciate the value of locally manufactured goods in support of our local economy. It's wonderful to be able to link up with existing Kat van Duinen clients in Joburg, as well as to meet new ones, and it is a wonderfully vibrant, rich city."
